The guards
Description: Large, numerous infantry; very good at defense and attack. They have a very high morale, even better than the grenadiers. They have excellent defensive stats, and as a matter of fact, they can be useful on the battlefield. Their disadvantage is the limitation of the maximum number of regiments of this unit in your army.
Armies: Spain, Prussia, Russia, Republic of Poland, Sweden, Great Britain.
The partisans
Description: they are worse than similar units like frontiersmen and Coureurs de Bois. However, they can be very dangerous, mainly because of their ability to move in hiding and set traps.

The company of manual mortars
Description: A company of hand-held mortars uses something like rocket launchers. In fact, they have the same shooting range as most infantry units (twice the number of grenadiers). A company of hand-held mortars must support the line infantry on the battlefield. Disadvantages: few grenades and a very long time from launch to explosion.

Hessian Line Infantry
Description: Inexpensive, but not much. If you are looking for a better replacement for light infantry, try using the Hessian Line Infantry. They support other regiments well and protect your artillery.

Highland Infantry
Description: something in between the Guards and the Grenadiers. They have a good fighting spirit and a very good charge. The Scots are very good on the battlefield, but they are also very expensive.

The Hindu Musketeers
Description: They should be the base of your army from the very beginning. Armed with muskets, they have very good accuracy and average stats in hand-to-hand combat. In close combat, they can be replaced by Hindu warriors.

This is very rare in the French army, but Infanterie Vieux can mobilize other units for battle.
